K.C. Stippa
A talented carpenter and sculptor, Kenneth uses his artistic background to create unique and functional works of art out of wood and stone. From benches to swings to water fountains, Ken creates all kinds of wonderful pieces both from his imagination and by request.
His methods are far less traditional and do not conform to only one style of art or carpentry. Kenneth uses the natural curvature of the wood to inspire his pieces. All of his wood projects contain only recycled wood from fallen trees or barns. Many of his works are not limited to wood but have on numerous occasions included stone and even iron. Kenneth has shaped all different types of native northeastern wood and prefers to use traditional handheld tools.
Because Kenneth creates from his imagination and uses unique pieces of earth, none of his projects are ever the same. He draws inspiration from well know artists and authors such as Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielsen, G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, George MacDonald and J.R.R Tolkien. Much of Kenneth's artistic background can be attributed to his father Ozwald Stippa, grandmother Irene Stippa, and mentor Dan Christoffel.
There is no limit to what Kenneth will make. Whatever the natural landscape provides can be shaped into almost anything you can think of. Past projects include numerous benches, chairs, dressers, bowls, timber frames, fountains, mantles, and tables. Some current projects include sculptural lighting, beds, large bowls, and anything that may pop up. |
